How to Apply
- If Spain is your primary destination or the country where you’ll spend the most nights, apply through the Spanish consulate or VFS Global in India.
- Book an appointment at VFS Global, available in New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and other major cities.
- Complete the Schengen visa application form available on the VFS Global website.
- Gather all documents listed below.
- Attend your appointment, submit documents, and provide biometrics.
- Pay the €80 visa fee plus VFS service charges.
- Receive your passport back within 15 to 30 working days.
Documents Required
- Valid Indian passport, at least 3 months validity beyond return date, minimum 2 blank pages
- Completed Schengen visa application form
- Two passport-sized photographs (35x45mm, white background, taken within 6 months)
- Confirmed return flight bookings
- Full accommodation bookings for the entire trip
- Travel insurance for the whole Schengen area, minimum €30,000 coverage
- Last 6 months bank statements (minimum balance of ₹3 to 4 lakh recommended)
- ITR for the last 2 years
- Last 3 months salary slips or business proof
- Employer leave letter
- Detailed cover letter and day-by-day travel itinerary
Costs & Fees
Visa fee: €80 (approx. ₹7,200). VFS Global service fee: approximately ₹1,750 to ₹2,000. Neither fee is refundable if your application is unsuccessful.
Tips
- Spain and France are often combined in one Schengen trip, apply under whichever country you’ll spend more nights in.
- Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Granada, and the Balearic Islands are the most visited spots for Indian tourists.
- Spanish consulates tend to process applications faster than some other Schengen countries, but still apply early.
- April to June and September to November are the best times to visit Spain, weather is ideal and crowds are manageable.
